Working primarily with drawing and with oil paints, rich in color, in small to mid to large scale, the general, recurring themes in my work is life and survival in the broadest sense, optimization and transience. The paintings and drawings frequently contain a subtle, violent moment which hints at something without revealing it.

In my artistic work, I investigate how power and hierarchy inscribe themselves into everyday gestures – in the subtext of a glance, a pose, or a staged scene – making them difficult to expose and confront. My works take up scenes from everyday life that appear coherent and familiar at first glance, but upon closer inspection, distorted perspectives, uncomfortable proximity, and implausible spatial relationships disrupt this semblance of normality. My figures often seem misplaced in their surroundings or in relation to one another; situations emerge that are quietly unsettling yet marked by a dry, observational humor.

At the center of my practice is the representation of the human condition and its abysses, specifically through relationships: between humans, between humans and animals, and between figures and their surroundings. These interactions reveal tensions and frictions that simmer beneath composed surfaces. My interpretation of these everyday scenes resonates with an uncanny yet humorous subtext, exposing the instability of our presumed order.

My practice is partly research-based, partly imagined. I selectively borrow motifs and transform them into a contemporary visual language, taking subjects and mundane phenomena from art history, pop culture, everyday life, contemporary art, folklore, fashion or rural landscapes – and reassemble them into new realities. This process is dialogic and a re-contextualization, not an imitation. Through fragmentation and reconstruction, I create spaces where familiar elements collide in unexpected configurations.
